We have been married  for 5 years.  Our 6th anniversary is in May.  Things are going well.  We are still very happy together.

 

Let’s see, what’s new.

 

  • Spring has come again and we are planting things in the yard
  • We are planning on having a vegetable garden this summer
  • Trips planned to West Virginia for the 4th of July and Alabama f or Thanksgiving
  • We are grateful to be alive and have each other
  • happy to see the winter coming to a close

I am a nurturer.  This is helpful as a wife and mother.  I like taking care of people and animals.  Luckily I get to do that a lot in taking care of my husband, son and 2 cats.  I am truly concerned for their health and well-being.  I pray for them and try to help them in any way I can.

Respect is important in a marriage.  Love seems to take center stage but respect has to be best supporting actor.  My stepfather used to say that he’d rather be respected than loved.  If I had to choose, I’d choose love.  But the point is, you shouldn’t have to choose.  Especially in marriage.  I respect my husband as a leader, as a man, as my husband. And he respects me as a woman and his wife.

I love this quote.  I look at my wedding ring often.  It is a reminder of my marriage, my love, my husband and our commitment.  It’s like a hug around my finger and my life.  Security.

#291: St. Patty, Patron Saint of My Marriage March 17, 2012

St. Patrick has always brought good luck, love and blessings to my marriage.  Here are just a few things:

1) I first returned to the Catholic faith of my upbringing about 7 or 8 years ago.  I started attending St. Patrick’s church in downtown DC.  It’s right near my office.  I started praying for a husband in that very church.

2) A few years later, I had my first date with my husband.  On St. Patrick’s Day.

3) A year ago, we bought our first house.  The house closed.  On St. Patrick’s Day.

So it’s not a ton of things, but they are a few very significant things.  I believe that St. Patrick watches over my marriage.  Who knows what else he has in store for my marriage? :)

#70: Working to be a better wife (What better home improvement project is there besides improving yourself) May 16, 2011

The good thing about being a great wife is that you don’t have to start out there.  It would be nice to hit the ground running as a great wife.  I think I have potential.  And I’m pretty good but I can be better.  Take this morning for instance.  I snapped at my husband.  Not a big snap but a snap nevertheless.  I’m not saying that a great wife never snaps at her husband, but a great wife TRIES not to snap at her husband.  She CARES that she snapped at her husband.  And she TRIES to figure out how not to snap again, how to snap with less frequency, and with less bite.

The point is that you can improve at everything you do and if you care to be a better wife, you can be.
